Taylor Momsen Portrait

This was one of my favorite projects from the semester. I started it on the basis of an older digital media class project. I enjoyed the real life illustrations over picture templates so I decided to do another one. I chose Taylor Momsen because I had observed some projects of Abbey Carr's in which she used the singer and after-which I couldn't get her out of my head when trying to think of a person to draw. The original image was a full headshot but I cropped it to spend more time on detail and still reach completion. As I did with the last portrait, my greatest struggles came from features like the nose and mouth and a realistic portrayal of the skin. I'm proud of the work I did with the eye and hair. The top image is the cropped but unedited image I based my illustration on. The middle picture is the majority of the finished pieces placed on a white background. The third and final image is those pieces again but placed over the original image. This project taught me about rolling with changes and unexpected challenges as they happen and creatively problem solving to overcome obstacles and achieve the desired finished product.
